Also if you are considering other locations to stay, the south end of SMB is nice, very centrally located. We stayed at Cayman Reef resort. It is 5-10 minute walk to Camana bay (shops and restaurants, gourmet grocery store), across the street from Divers Supply and liquor store, a 20 minute walk from 2 grocery stores and a 10 minute walk from Divers World. Several restaurants are within easy walking distamce. We never even rented a car... walked everywhere. We took a bus one afternoon to snorkel at Paradise. A school of large tarpon hang out there, (fun being in the water at feeding time). We even spent 10 minutes watching a school of squid not 5 feet away. Great for non divers. I was told you can snorkel the top of the reef which is not that far away. There is a dive op right there called Eden Rock which shore divers use. The south end is generally busier with people walking the beach in my observation, especially if cruise ships are in port.
