I picked up a regular elbow to replace the remote exhaust on my RecWings today. When I tried to remove the hose from the remote, I realized that the hose seems to be glued to both the remote and the power inflator :11doh: Is there a way to remove the hose without damaging it? I plan on switching to a shorter hose, but I do not want to damage this one.

Thanks for any help!:)

More than likely it's just the rubber fused a bit to the plastic if you are talking about where the rubber meets the plastic. Try working the hose away from the plastic and see if you can make any headway on it.

Another thing is that with a shoulder dump (remote) there will be a cable or some other kind of line that will go from the shoulder dump to the power inflator inside the corrugated hose. Pull the rubber back a bit off of the power inflator and you will (generally) see a metal pin run through the plastic of the power inflator that is providing an anchor for the cable. Push the pin out of the plastic and the whole assembly will come apart. You will not need to replace the cable or pin as you are removing the shoulder dump.

Hope this helps.

Some folks & mfgrs add a little rubber base glue to those connections to eliminate the leaks that can occur with clamps or zip ties. You can use a blunt tool to pry it loose without cutting or tearing. The tan rubbery residue can be rubbed off.

If you reattach with zip ties, use 2 at each connection with the joints offset to reduce problems with leaks.

It is some kind of adhesive that DR used. My Rec wing was the same way. I used a very small flat head screw driver under the corrugated hose to pry it away from the inflator and exhaust elbow. Do this very carefully, otherwise you will be replacing the corrugated hose and/or the inflator. When reconnecting, you can use zip ties like awap says or you can buy the connectors that have a small screw to tighten it down. My Rec wing came with two of them. My Classic wing didn't have them and I used two zip ties on each end, no problems.

I just used a screwdriver to loosen the glue and make the switch. Thanks for the advice! Would it be worth the time to re-glue the connections?

I don't use any glue and have no trouble with leaks.
