Why is there a lack of rentals for DSLR rigs, strobes? People don't want to sign for replacement value if flooded or damaged from abuse, inappropriate cleaning? Learning curve too steep for new enthusiasts to be worth it? Some places will only rent top of the line housing if you also rent their camera and all the other gear you may not need. What if you just want an additional strobe for a trip or are just dying to try the zen port but don't have the cash lying around to invest.

The initial investment in housings and more powerful strobes for dSLR cameras would require high rental fees to barely get to break even point before newer models require replacing the housing.

Ports alone for the myriad of lenses people think they can use (or don't want to rent a better choice for UW shooting) coupled with set up and shooting is another concern.

Just assembling a SLR housing and strobe(s) the first time to get decent results can be daunting for folks. Now add in if they flood their camera, don't have insurance, etc.

That said a friend in WA state rents high end housings and more for many studio and other shooters tackling "wet" shooting.

I sell lots of dSLR packages to folks. Once they make their initial investment they shoot for years before upgrading SLR bodies as part of their system.

Good luck!
