Removing transmitter battery when not diving for a while?

Every time you open/close a compartment that is meant to be waterproof and sealed by O-rings, you are putting some wear on the O-rings and also risking damaging them.
I wouldn't take out any lithium ion batteries because of concerns of leakage.
Meaning I wouldn't take them out of lights, either, if that's what you're doing. The exception would be any device that has any kind of small drain on the battery when it's stored. I do have some lights that use lithium ion batteries but have a small drain on the battery when they are just sitting. For those, I would remove the battery. For lights (or other devices) that are truly OFF when they are Off, I would leave the batteries in place.
