Hi,
I have Zip seals installed on my TLS350 and I am having latex allergy problems that cause my neck to have nasty scab rings. I've tried using Bio-Seals but they destroy the latex, even the heavyweight, almost immediately. I want to switch to the Si-Tech silicone system so the DUI system needs to be removed. I am severely challenged financially at the moment and would prefer to remove it myself. I have access to a heat gun. Does anyone know if this is possible as a DIY project?
Thank you, Hilary

Great idea! Thank you. I already have three days of diving lined up for March and I've only put off Feb. plans until I get the situation figured out. I usually dive the Channel Islands year round so waiting until June doesn't work for me.
Thanks again, Hilary

well you could look at zipgloves, or you could trim back a zip seal and use a si tech quick cuff system with silicone seal. saving the zipseals system until the new seals come out

The guys at Dive Right In Scuba will do it. I don't know whether they would be willing to provide you with any guidance over the phone, but you could ask.

Hi Hilary,

This is Kathy with DUI. I saw your post. You mention an allergy to latex and a nasty scab ring. On our website we have a small bulletin board and this topic was brought up. That conversation is available at DUI - Diving Unlimited International - Neck rash

Are you having issues with the latex wrist seals?

If you review the thread I mention - it discusses that the skin on the neck is super sensitive... much more so than the wrist. You can try and use something to create a barrier between the seal and your neck.

If you have a latex allergy this would not solve the problem.

YES we are coming out with silicone ZipSeals. This is scheduled out mid-year and we are excited! More information will be coming out.... We have some information posted at DUI introduces 10 new drysuit products in 2011

I hope this helps.

Thank you,

Kathy
