I was on a flight up to NC last week to get a boat when a lady and her daughter sitting next to me commented on my PCDC shirt. It turned out that they were from Dothan and have dove PCB regularly for a long time. It also turned out that they are SBers but I dont remember their screen names. Anyway after we talked for a while we kinda got into the "remember when" mode. For the next hour we talked and the mother, Kim suggested it might be neat if I posted some of the "remember whens",so here it is.

Remember when Gomez had hair on his head and owned a pet shop?
Remember when Jerry McClendon actually ran the Double Time?
Remember when Ron Hardy owned HydroSpace in front of the Treasure Ship?
Remember when Petes Scuba was on Middle Beach rd?
Remember when the Strength was upside down?
Remember when the Black Bart moved 3/4 mile to where it is now and the Navy could not find it?
Remember when the Hovercraft would not sink and the Tropical Sun spent the night babysitting it?
Remember when you could almost get to 70 feet at the jetties?
Remember when Span #2 still looked like a Span?
Remember when 2tugs were 20 yards apart?
Remember the numbered golf ball contest on the Black Bart?
Remember when Atlantis was still around?
And the best one is
Remember when their were lots of keeper fish within 5 miles of shore?

There you go Kim.These are just a few I am sure there are a lot more. Hope this brings back a few memories for everyone. Even though things have changed a lot over the years I still think this is the best place to dive on the Gulf Coast. K

one of the dive Op's in PCB getting a new dive boat? details man!

Remember when Ron Hardy owned HydroSpace in front of the Treasure Ship?

that was before Capt Andersons....

Remember when Petes Scuba was on Middle Beach rd?

they've been gone for a long time.

Remember when you could almost get to 70 feet at the jetties?

I'd have to go check my log book, but I think as recent as two years ago there was a dip down to about 65'

All the AJ's now are about 1-2" short of being legal.

Or had a back wall at his dive shop. Oh, sorry :eyebrow:

You've got a good list there. PC has had more than it's share of change over the years. Good or bad... But you're right, it's still one of the best places to dive around.

Remember when you could see the beach from front beach road?
Remember when you could camp on the beach for almost nothing?
Remember when St Andrews was a dollar to get into (it's $8 now  )
Remember when the Naval Support Station had a dive shop?
Rmemeber when the water was clear at Lake Powel?

Remember the Inlet beach pier at Camp Helen?

Or the area before the darn developments? Here is Laguna Beach in 1957. This area is now just another stretch of condos and hotels along Front Beach Rd.

Actually Mike, back in the day ( when you could roll out the pass and see at least 2 boats on every site with at least 10 people per boat) Hydrospace was in the building that is now the Treasure Ship gift shop. Pete moved to Thomas drive and sold out to Tony at the present day Dive Locker. I see Pete their quite frequently. Incidentally Pete is still on of the best cave instructors in the south. The reason the AJ are short is because they just raised the limit 2 inches. As far as a hole 65 feet deep at he jetties, your a better man than me. K
