There were so many "arguments" about science can't explain this or that, or science will never explain this or that, and people hold on to those false presumptions to credit their belief, and the absurdity of using current lack of understanding to justify it being inexplainable and therefore crediting it to a superior being, which we conveniently can't understand due to it's superior nature.
And of course, to the more laughable argument that we, non religious, are close minded.
I had to revive this thread to post this great piece I saw, a few, of many solid examples of facts, verifiable and of historical value, to address some of this "arguments" discussed here along the thread.

To me, it is the knowledge we gain that steers me away from accepting biblical "explanations" to our deeper (sometimes not so deep at all) questions, of course some whacky stuff found in the bible is just plain silly independent of further knowledge, but the point is, I can understand the people of the past turning to a divine superior being to find the answers to their mysteries and give them comfort in "knowing", what else did they have? But for us, today, "we" know better. As the cool kids in Brazil would say "bro, that's forcing the friendship", asking to believe in biblical accounts.
