Scott Tucker of Expedition N.E. invited me down to Charleston, RI to watch Mystic Aqaurium’s releasing of the seals. They released 14 Harp seals and 1 Grey Seal. These seals were recovered from Main and nursed back to health and then released in RI. The Harp seals are frigid water seals and their instinct has them immediately turning North and heading for colder waters. They should be up towards Nova Scotia or Greenland in a week. The Grey seal could stick around and be a local. It was a great sight to see and got quite a lot of media coverage. I am hoping Scott may be able to provide video showing the seals darting out of their cages and racing to the ocean.

That is a feel-good story. I hope all works out for those rescued (recovered?) seals.

What a wonderful event this must have been! Sure would be nice if they hung around Narragansett Bay. Boston Globe has already put out a story about this.

Very cool.:D
