Regulators & computers as Carry on

At my dive club meeting this past week a member who also owns a dive shop said that the either the TSA or Continental might start a new policy of not allowing dive computers and regulators to be carried on board as carry on.

I can't remember if he said it was going to be a TSA policy or a Continental Airlines policy. Also keep in mind this is not set in stone, but is a possibilty. So has anyone else heard about this possibilty? I tried to do a search but didn't find anything.

I've got a friend who is a TSA supervisor, and we were just talking today about traveling with dive gear carry-ons, like regs and computers and HID lights. He never said a thing, except that it's perfectly fine.

I think the rumor is erroneous.

Continental would lose tons of business, considering that they tote around 40% of all divers to the Carribean and the South Seas.

Maybe it wasn't TSA. He might have said it was Continental. All I know is he said it was a possibilty.

Doesn't make any sense to me at all. Especially if it is an airline policy vs an TSa policy. If it was an airline policy I for one sure as hell woiuldn't tell them I'm carry on a dive computer or regulator.

If this did happen i would be at a loss to understand the reasoning for this.
