I recommend owning your own regs. And your octo should be a good performer since it's very possible you'll be breathing off it under stressful conditions.
I dive HOG D1/D2s from DiveRightInScuba.com. My primary 2nd stage and octo are the same reg with the same great performance. It's about $200 for a 1st and 2nd stage with a cold water kit and a 5th port on the bottom (makes routing easier for some configurations). They have packages for single tank setup that give you one first stage, two second stages, a pressure gauge, and all the necessary hoses. Highly recommended. I've used Atomics, Apeks, Mares, and my HOGs and the two top performers were Atomics and HOG, and they were really indistinguishable underwater in terms of work of breathing.
