Does anyone know of a resource that lists various regulators and their specifications? Piston/diaphragm, balanced/unbalanced, upstream/downstream, oxygen compatibility, years of manufacture, etc.

Not really.

Some of the SCUBA mags do comparisons every now and then, but I don't know of any all-encompassing lists.

No, most summaries are just trash, garbage in and garbage out. The scuba press is OWNED by the scuba industry and would never give an unbiased test.

Why does all that matter to you?

Curiosity mostly. I'm not looking for any performance measurements, just attributes.

There is some quantitative data in the public arena based on US Navy Class A and European CE Directives for regulator testing. Both tests are performed on machinery made by Ansti Test Systems Ltd in Hampshire, UK.

Results of the Navy test standard are published in some of the Scuba Magazine ScubaLab articles:

This may of interest:

Ansti's client list may be of particular interest as it shows which regulator manufacturers actually own one of their test systems, though it does not indicate which ones are Demand Regulator Test Stations with hyperbaric chambers.

This does not address your initial question as to regulator mechanical characteristics, but is probably more to the point for most divers.

Scubaroo started this thread a while back. It was a "Sticky" for quite some time; but unfortunately the powers that be let it drift away. It's not exactly what you're looking for, but you'll find it very informative. I think I'll give it a bump, just to bring it back to a more accessible position.
