After both stages have been thoroughly dried, install the dust cap securely in place on the first stage. The second stage should be either enclosed in a sock or bag to keep pest and dust out. If your second stage has an adjustment knob, turn it all the way out (toward minimal inhalation resistance.) Additionally, some folks like to place an object on the purge button while in storage to keep the tension off the second stage soft seat to help prevent engraving. I like to lay mine flat on a shelf to keep strain off the hoses, but that's probably not necessary as long as there are no sharp bends in the hoses. Of course, store in a place where it won’t overheat.

Mon frère couv said it all.
I put mines flat in a closet, have some that are there for 10-15 years without any problem that I know.

Shall I wait for "The Master" to weigh in...or should I just agree with couv and Zung?

I store my regs flat in a sealed Rubbermaid bin. The inhalation adjustment knob is turned all the way out, just as couv described.

Some people over in the DIY section...ahem...have done all of the legwork figuring out generic replacement parts for my second stage LP seats, so I won't mind a little engraving. It'll give me an excuse to overhaul the second stages every few years. It's easy, fun, and sort of therapeutic.

Thanks for the kind words, but I did miss out a least one item.

If you have hose protectors installed, pull them away from the metal fittings so they won't trap moisture where they can cause corrosion.
