One more vote for Apeks. I have the DS4/xtx50 on both posts of my doubles. I absolutely love them. For the money, you can go wrong!

Go with the Apeks. Any Aqua Lung shop should be able to service them. They are ownwed by AL. Plus it is already cold water ready if you ever decide to go that route.

On Saturday I went to the shop and placed the order for the xtx-50. It should arrive this Friday. Now it is time to shop around for a dive computer. Any recommendations?

Sure! I like my NiTek Duo. Now that there's a NiTek Trio, the Duo is $399 at Dive Rite Express is now Dive Gear Express

The downloader is terribly overpriced but you can get it as a $100 adder when you buy the package from ScubaToys.com

Tusa and Zeagle see the same computer for the same price at Scubatoys.

Having used a few computers now, my advice is that these are the most important features:

1. Big, easy to read display
2. User replaceable battery

I started with a Suunto D6 and quickly learned to hate the teeny tiny numbers. Too big for a watch... too small for a dive computer.

I know you just ordered your apex, but I'll mention it anyway.
I own the Titan LX, it is a great regulator. I really can't think of any negatives about it.
I have last years model.

I recently got a Scubapro Mk25/S600, It's a great reg also. For the diving I do (recreational) I haven't really noticed a significant difference between the two regs.

It just goes to show how great of a reg the Titan is as a $440 reg vs. the $680 scubapro.

I wanted the scubapro, for a few different reasons one of which is that I'm getting ready to take some TDI courses. I'll be getting another Mk25/S600 soon for a doubles setup.

The Titan is probably the best reg out there for the price.

If there are some other intangibles that make the Apex or in my case the Scubapro more appealing, then go for it......which you did.

As for computers. I have the Dive rite nitek duo. I like it. There are some good deals on it, since it's been discontinued.

The only negative I can think of is that the backlight is a little weak. Other than that I've been happy with it.

Remember to set your gas mix prior to the dive.

Apeks is a fine product. I dove the XTX200 for several years and loved it. However, the first time I tried an Atomic, the game was over. Hands down the best breathing and the most comfortable reg out there. All Atomic models are good but be sure to get one with the Comfo-Swivel on the 2nd stage hose. It makes a huge difference. For computers, I won't use anything but a VR3 or the Uwatec Smart Z.(or Smart Tec)

I have the DS4/XTX50 and I love it.. Couple it with Miflex hoses and you have a reg that's very hard to beat.

if you go doubles I believe you can route the hose on either side of the reg.
