Most all of the posts in the photo section concern pretty high dollar set-ups. I know there have got to be more people out there using ReefMaster or other cheaper U/W cameras. If so....anyone tried the wide angle lens available for the ReefMaster yet? Im curious as to how it is.

Hello,

Please define 'cheap' in terms of $ amount. I bought my nikonos V setup for really cheap.

I guess its all relative. I paid about $300 for my ReefMaster setup....as opposed to close to a grand for a nicer setup. Other side of the coin.....a buddy picked up a slightly (VERY slightly) used Nikonos plus a strobe w/arm for $350. My point is, is that alot of us dont have the money to sink into a really nice setup. So we get what we can afford. For me, my ReefMaster does what I need it to do....take simple shots underwater. Would I like to be able to take REALLY nice shots with a nicer camera? Sure. But until I can afford something like that, Im fine with what I have.

Like my signature says....Happiness is wanting what you've got; not getting what you want. We'd all like to have the top of the line megapixel/superfilm housed system that allows us to capture the scales on a Neon Gobie but few of us can afford it. We do the best we can with what we can afford.

I just recently went digital, but used a Reefmaster for about a year and half. I loved it. I added to it over that time and ended up with double strobes, and the macro kit (WAL was not available at the time).

You might never shoot pics you could make a living from, but I've got some great shots for my photo album. You could even win a photo contest or two with that camera.

but I have an MX-10 with the lenses and optic cable for the strobe. I used to think I was a fairly good photographer on land, but doing this thing under water is a whole different ball game. I don't think the format (film vs digital) makes as much of a difference as experience, framing, exposure, content, etc.

I guess we'll just have to keep snapping away until we get the hang of it......

I havev been using the reefmaster for about 7 months with strobe and all the lens and wide ankle lens actually it take's good pictures, promblem is I do believe that going digital would be better and cheaper in long run depends on the usage you plan on doing !!!
