I'm a Fish!
I just set this up on my laptop, being a fan of Humann's Reef Fish identification guides, and highly recommend it to other Caribbean divers. There are 3 versions; suggest the premium DVD version.... :coffee:

This software is wonderful!! Videos; photos; search function; information.

Quote from reefnet:

"Reef Fish ID: Florida, Caribbean, Bahamas - Interactive Edition is the most comprehensive scientific reference of its kind -- the product of nearly 10 years of scientific research, photographic expeditions, and collaboration with academic experts. Whether you're a beginning fish watcher looking for a learning tool or an ichthyologist looking for an accurate reference, this electronic field guide is for you.

At the core of the Interactive Edition is a database of 665 unique species known to inhabit the Caribbean, the Gulf of Mexico, and adjacent waters. Each species is described in meticulous detail and is accompanied by a giant library of visual material:

* 2500 colour photographs illustrating important features, markings, colours, etc.
* 1000 video clips illustrating both typical and unusual behaviours
* Annotated sketches for every species, showing the features important for positive identification"

RIP it :) oops did I say that

it was a joke, Note the Smiley :)

This is great software. If you travel with a laptop, as I do, it lightens your load a little too. I wish they'd come out with an Indo-pacific version.

I've been using this software for several years. The previous versions were developed independently from Humann's Reef Fish identification guides. I just got this latest version. Not a lot of changes from the previous version. I'm guessing that now that a relationship has been set up with Humann's, that we'll see more changes in the future.

I didn't have to pay full price - they had an upgrade price, too. So, plan to upgrade in the future as more Humann-content gets integrated.

The package is great for identifying fish. You put in the characteristics that you know, such as size, shapes, colors, markings, depth, etc. and it provides a list of possible fish. Plus it has several pictures for each species, showing typical variations. Generally the book has one for adult, sometimes one for earlier phases.
