I've always wanted to see the squid in Rendondo and I vaguely recall they started coming out end of Dec-early spring. Is this true and if it is, are they already there. I'm about to move to NY and that is one dive I really want to do before I move. I was hoping to go xmas weekend rain or no rain.

All I can tell you is we were down there last weekend and the squid fishing boats were out in force.

Dove it on the 14th and the squid were EVERYWHERE. Lots of squid, lots of squid eggs, lots of crabs. Really cool dive. They started at about 45-50 ft depth and we ended up staying around 60ft most of the dive.

We dived Vet's on the 16th. Most of the squid were gone (i.e. dead), but there were some really nice sized egg patches. A few lonely squid were still tooling around, but most of the action happened a few days before.

There are often several "runs", though, so hopefully we'll catch another!

Well I'll keep my fingers crossed. I know if I didn't at least try to see them I'll be pretty bummed.
