Hi guys,

I am planning a trip to Redang in March. I am a beginner diver and have heard good things about the diving around Redang. I was just wondering if anyone here has been there around that time ? How is the weather this time of year ? What are is the visibility (I know it depends on weather) like ? What can I expect to see ? I really enjoy seeing fishes and colourful corals, would this be a good place ?

Last of all, any thoughts on Dive Operators and accommodations ? I am a student so definitely on a low budget. Any comments and thoughts are welcome. Many thanks in advance !

The weather in March off the east coast of the pennisula is impossible to predict accurately. I have been on Redang in March when conditions were beautiful, and I have been in Terrenganu in March when the boat trip was impossible. It all depends on how the monsoon season goes, but in general, the further south along the coast you go, the better your chances. As far as prices, if you search the resorts for shoulder-season specials, you might be able to save a little money with a discount package.
