What videos could you recommend for a dive shop's video monitors???
We currently have two placed in the store, and have been playing instructional videos and marketing video since we opened. The discussion came up the other day about how the suggested marketing strategy for dive shops is to take on a feel similar to a surf shop. Every surf shop I have ever walked in to has had some sort of video playing that wasn't aimed at promoting or selling a product, but rather, it was focused on the activity of surfing...

That's what I am looking for, but obviously with the focus shifted to diving.

I have seen the Dive Portal DVD's, and will be ordering the set this week.

Are there any other video's out on the market which are similar?

In a nutshell, I am looking for something like the "We Go Down" video productions on You Tube, but feature length and available for sale on DVD (with standard US coding).

Any help or suggestions would be greatly appreciated.

Well, I could indulge in a bit of crass materialism and commercialism and promote my own series of DVD's that largely focus on southern California waters since you are in Bakersfield. However, I'm above stooping to that level, so I won't mention it. Oops, I guess I already did!

I would recommend drbill's DVD set as well, well done! If your shop promotes exotic trips I would have one of those playing on one of the monitors and something educational or fun on the other! We do this for resorts and shops and can customize something for your shop as well! Here are some examples: Two Tanked Productions HD & SD Underwater Productions and video services

We can put a best of or tailor something for the itinerary of your shop!

Another vote for Dr. B's videos. I don't think that a time share like video advertisement for a resort is the way to go. This would take a little work but you can also have your customers submit videos that they've shot and edited in long form and make compilations. I'm sure that would stoke people out to see their own videos in there.

Nice idea having the locals show their work Billy. They might also want to offer some kind of store credit in exchange to motivate the local videographers.

Another good idea Ron. If your shop is selling video equipment it's also a good way to promote the quality of the gear you're selling.

other DVDs you should thing about purchasing:
anything by Howard Hall, IMAX productions (search on Amazon, there are lots of them)
ScubaCore videos (ditto Amazon, there are 3 - focus is on travel destinations)
Reef.org has an excellent one for sale

We produce a series of dive travel DVDs which are great for promoting travel in your store. You can buy directly from our website, amazon.com, or through the Trident catalog. You can also stock them in your store for resale.

Great idea to have the TVs in the store. Show your customers all the fun they can have.
