Hey folks,
I'm a fairly new open water diver, and one trait that's served me well in life is admitting when I don't know something. As an IT professional it's those who thought they knew something and got themselves in over their head that have made my life more miserable than anyone who ever admitted to me they didn't know something.

What I'm looking to learn more about is fish identification. I know some basics that I'd suspect anyone would know. (What a moray eel looks like, what an lion fish looks like, and a few more.) Other things I've picked up since I started diving, like what a nurse shark looks like. In general though I know that my knowledge of fish is a drop in the bucket. I have no desire to be a marine biologist, but I would like to learn more about fish identification so when I'm diving in either the local rivers or in the ocean I can later tell my non-diver wife "Hey I saw a ___" and the blank isn't filled in by me just saying "fish". To be able to say I saw something more descriptive would at least help me not feel so dumb when I excitedly tell her about what I saw.

Can any of you please recommend web sites or books that will help me learn more? (Cheaper books preferred - I'm broke after buying all my equipment! :D)

Thanks everyone,
- Dave
