Just bought the combo from Amazon.com. Excellent price, the camera alone is still selling over 200 hundred in local stores!!!!! I got it in the mail a few days after my order--perfect!
The Canon housing is not quite as nice as the one I got from Olympus for the 770SW. The seal looks better but the latch mechanismis plastic instead of stainless steel and the shutter button is a direct push instead of a lever like on the Oly. The port is not threaded for filters either--BUT---the Canon housing is basically the same thing, I suspect they come out of the same slave shop somewhere. I think the Canon housing will prove out just fine. I just don't see a 300 dollar housing for a 130 dollar camera.
Another thing, the Canon housing is supported by Inon America with strobes, brackets, AD wet lenses (macro, wide angle and fisheye) and the port adapters, the Ikelite housing is not. For example, you cannot put the popular and useful Inon 165AD fisheye lens on the Ikelite housing--that is a NO DEAL for me right there. I don't care if the Ikelite is better made or will last forever, the camera is not going to (last forever, obsolete already--there is a A590IS and uses the same--SAME canon DC12 housing) and a P&S that will not work with Inon AD leneses --BAD--BAD.
Go to Inon America web page, go to the ribbon at the top on the home page and click NEWS. Then go to page 2 of the NEWS. Scroll down to "Inon Supports the Canon DC12 housing" and click on that for a full listing of Inon's accesories bit by bit. Awesome!
