Thank you all for the help and suggestions. Because of this thread, I learned about diving in Fiji and managed to score amazing deals on airfare and all-inclusive diving in Taveuni. Plus I have 5-6 days left to explore other parts of the island.
I was torn about using my time only for diving, or exploring the land and missing out on great diving. So I extended my start date and seem to have found a nice balance!

Congrats on finding something that worked well for you!
For your next trip that you are looking to book, I forgot to mention Egypt liveaboards or Thailand liveaboards. You can get a week of diving on a liveaboard for about $1300. In Egypt, even with free nitrox! Airfare is more expensive to Egypt than to Thailand in my experience, though.
