In about a 1.5 weeks my husband and I will be doing a live aboard trip out of Cairns with SOF, so I wanted to check to see if anyone had recent water temperature as we are trying to decided which wetsuits to pack.

We were planning on our 3mms plus hoods. We dive out of Seattle in the local water and are used to 9-11C water in our dry suits.

If anyone has recent water temps or thoughts on wetsuits?
Thanks,
Chris

So depends how much you feel the cold, but I'm wearing a 5mm at the moment. If you're used to cold water, a full length 3mm with a hood may well be fine. I am simply a wuss and hate cold water.

Thanks WetPup! We've comfortably dove waters around that temp in our 3mms, and we are used to cold water as we only get warm water when we travel to it.

You will can get a 5mm shortie or 3mm and 5mm full length on board if you do get cold.

Thank you everyone for the gut check!

We are really looking forward to the trip and doing some exploring on land afterward.
