I thought I would go ahead and post this here. It's sort of been mentioned in A&I but this post is not about analysis, just about the loss of a friend. While he only posted here occationally, Steve was known here as 'recman21". I know a fair number of us knew him.

DEVOTED HUSBAND, FATHER, SON AND BROTHER


STEPHEN M. WHITE, 50, Rockford, died at 3:49PM, Sunday, July 19, 2005 in Victory Memorial Hospital, Waukegan, as the result of a scuba diving accident. Born February 17, 1955 in Swindon, England, son of Manfred White and Hilda Riley White. Married Mary Jane Zenk in Paris, France on July 4, 1990. He was proud to have lived in the United States the past 9 years after coming here from Paris. He was self employed as a computer network consultant. He also had formerly been employed part time by the Rockford Bread and Bagel Co. He was in the French Foreign Legion from 1978 to 1983 where he was a Chief Corporal in the First Calvary. He attended the Culinary Program at Elgin Community College and much to his family’s delight, excelled in bread baking and pastries. He loved scuba diving and belonged to several scuba diving associations. He also belonged to the French Foreign Legion Amicale. Stephen was a visionary who was deeply devoted to his family.

Survivors include his wife, Mary Jane; daughters, Bernadette and Christine; parents, Manfred (Ann) White, Stafford, England and Hilda (Gordon) Smith, Bracklesham Bay, England, and his brother, Michael White, Lampedusa, Sicily. Predeceased by his father-in-law, Jack Zenk.

Funeral mass 11AM, Tuesday, July 26, 2005 in St. Bernadette Catholic Church with Rev. Pierre Polycarpe officiating. Inurnment in Calvary Cemetery Mausoleum. Visitation from 6-8PM, Monday in Fitzgerald Funeral Home & Crematory, Riverside Chapel, 3910 N. Rockton Ave. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to a trust fund for his children, c/o Rock Valley Credit Union. Send condolences at www.fitzgeraldfh.com

Thank you for posting the information. I haven't seen the A&I thread but will look for it. It's always sad to learn of a loss such as this.

I'm so sorry for the loss of your friend. Please pass my prayers and condolences to his family.
 
So sorry to hear of your loss a friend, friends are precious gifts...my condolences to his family and those that knew and loved him.
 
This is bad,
Steve=Wreckman 21 has did dives with me several times off my boat,his last dive was 2-weeks ago I called him to dive the Northener,He was a newer diver=Not newbie,That had the dive bug as I have!We did our first dives of the year at Haigh,then Opening day at pearl!
I would have Steve cover my back any time,He was a good safe diver that loved to dive and talked on our last dive to move out from Rockford to some area lake side.
Man my day is a loss,

So sorry to hear about your friend, my heart goes out to you and his family.
 
My condolences to you and his family. Hope there is a lesson we can learn from this accident so that it is not so senseless.
