I heard a diver off Morehead City, NC was transported to the hospital last Friday (5/18??) and died later. Rumor has it that it was a heart issue.

Has anybody heard about this? Was his death the result of a diving accident or did the guy experience natural causes while diving?

Regardless of the circumstances, my deepest sympathies to the family...

From what I could gather, he experienced cardio problems and was air lifted to the hospital. I don't know if it was before, or after a dive.

After being on this BB for a year now, it appears that there are quite a few heart attacks while diving.

My sincere condolences.

It can be a very strenuous sport. Gearing up in a thick wetsuit or drysuit in the heat can be downright brutal. If you're not in at least decent shape or if you have heart issues, it can easily push the body over the edge.

The Sticky for this forum has been changed, and good wishes like those are now asked to be posted on a different sub-forum. May I ask you read the Sticky.

Cardiovascular events are a major cause of death - but then we're living twice as long as a hundred years ago, but not living twice as healthy. Scuba can be the part of the event but not the real cause. But then, who wants to live with no action, or even - who wants to live forever only by avoiding risks. Personally, seems a lot better way to end when inevitable than some others.

My sincere condolences and sympathies to the family and friends as well...
