Gulf of Mexico Red Snapper Quota Increases and Recreational Red Snapper Season

The recreational red snapper season opens June 1, 2011. NOAA Fisheries Service has projected the red snapper recreational quota will be harvested by July 18, 2011. The fishing season will close at 12:01 a.m. July 19, 2011

NOAA Fisheries Service has published a final rule to establish a June 1 through July 31 seasonal closure for recreational harvest of greater amberjack in or from the Gulf of Mexico (Gulf) federal waters.

* Thanks to Capt. Lawren at Gulf Coast Divers for giving me the heads-up on these

june 1 to july 18, how ****ing splendid...

even though the quota (in tons) was increased, the season (time to kill) was decreased, because, the fish being caught are supposedly larger (and therefore weigh more)

I have to call bull$#!7, but it is what it is..........
