For one, The Whites Drysuits are a joke. My buddy bought one a few years ago and it never stopped leaking. White's wouldn't warranty the suit so he ended up selling it on Ebay. The biggest problem with Dui is that to order a suit, it takes 8 weeks and if it has to be sent into the factory, your looking at missing an entire dive season. Even if it is a warranty job. They make a good suit, but they make you feel like you should be priveleged to own one. I got my USIA suit custom made in two weeks. When I sent it in for a neckseal replacement, I got it back in two weeks. I not selling drysuits, I just hate to see new divers get sucked into the name brands only to be screwed and have a miserable dive experience.

I saw USIA suits at DEMA. I thought they looked like a trash bag. I'll take my DUI or ANdy's any day over one of those piece'a's...

BTW, My experience with DUI has been very pleasant.

Also, Andy Whitehouse is a pleasure to deal with also. I met him at DEMA this past October, and wondered to myself why I havent been selling these suits all along. Great company, great people, great products.

There are alot of drysuit manufacturers out there. I believe some of them make good products, and then some of them do not...

BTW, DUI has a 7 year warranty...

So the ever perfect, never has a problem USIA is not a name brand?

I thought Moderators who contributed to a thread werent supposed to moderate that thread...

I would take Snowbear's comments more as a reminder of proper conduct than moderation ... any contributor has the right to ask that we conduct ourselves responsibly, don't you think?

As for the assertion at USIA has a "lifetime" warranty ... I'm gonna have to check that out. I could put an awful lot of dives on a drysuit in my lifetime ...

I here ya...

As far as the warranty goes, Im sure it has some sort of useful life clause, or something.

Thank you for your advice. I will have further discussions with my LDS about this, as well as the quality of the drysuit offered.

As to training, I would never jump into anything like this, or any other diving specialty, without the proper training. But thanks for thinking of my well being.

As to whether or not this is the drysuit I was looking for, I don't know. I really had not researched anything about drysuits after my LDS advised against it. I knew they existed, but that's all. I don't know who makes them, what they cost, or the plus'/minus' of any brand. The Bare suit just happened to be the brand that was offered at the time.

The LDS who offered up the suit suggested that I try it on, but because I was working at the time and just stopped in on a whim, I didn't have time. However, that is something I would naturally do before ever buying a suit, wet or dry.

How do I know what is a good fit with a drysuit?
