Psst, this is a zombie thread from 2006 that panta3 just revived...

But to answer panta3's question, I don't see anything wrong with buying a used rebreather provided it's in good condition and you know what you're getting yourself into. I'd second the advice to talk to the tech about the service that was recently done. Another thing to consider is if this has the new or older electronics. Used P2's with the older electronics seem to be going for around 5,000 in good condition, so that might give you some wiggle room with the price.

All 9 of the op's posts are from 9 years ago. I think maybe he got the message. But I happen to agree with him that $5K is a bit high for rebreather instruction.

I'd do it for $4999.......

Thanks for the advise. The guy ofering the used rebreather is a friend of my rebreather instrutor, he knew I Was planning to make the course and buy one so he offered his. my plan is to buy the rebreather and next week make the course. He sent me pictures of the rebreather, most of the items are new inside plastic bags from Hollis. He said everything is new only the main part and the computer is used. I would like to hear some advise about safety to help me making my decision. This is a very expensive item for me and I want to use it for many years. But if it's a bad idea to buy a used unit I'd wait a few more weeks and buy a new one. What questions can I make to understand more about the unit?
I'd talk to the tech who did the service, just to cover all the bases. I'm not sure your friend can sell it directly to you anyway. Have you been certified on the unit? I remember signing lots of paperwork when I got mine as to the legalities of selling it. He might have to go through a dealer.

The 5k is Usd 5.000 just for the rebreather course?

I can't tell. But maybe it would be reasonable for nitrox, AOW, advanced nitrox, deco procedures and a bunch of other courses that would help a newbie prepare for a technical rebreather class. He just said the shop wanted $7K for the rebreather and $5K for the training. I think the whole thing was trolling.

My rebreather instructor said its 1,500 for rebreather course and module 1 to dive up to 48m. Correct?

Another advise I would like to ask is about fins. I'm thinking to buy Hollis F1 but I heard F2 is new model and better. Is this correct?

F2 isn't a "better" fin....they're lighter and more suited to travel. In pure thrust terms, the F1 beats anything I've ever tried. However, they're SUPER heavy. Like, ankle-weight heavy.

Mindless amphibian (the op) has not been on this site since 2006... imagine he discovered girls or fell out of love with diving after his 13th dive... or just did not dig SB...

$1500 is more or less a standard rate for CCR class... six to seven days.

Thanks victorzamora. I thought the F2 was good as F1 but lighter. So I'll buy the F1 that's more strong for rebreather and Tec dives
