Just a really quick (and incredibly silly) question: Is there any significance to the colors of line arrows or is it just personal preference? I was planning on purchasing a few for an upcoming Cavern and Intro class, and discovered that they come in a ton of colors and regular or jumbo sizes (coudn't find any in pink, though :D but I did find glow in the dark!)

Please don't flame me too badly; I searched for "line arrow colors" in TDS, cavediver.net, and Scubaboard, and couldn't come up with any relevant threads.

Thanks,
Rita :)

Choose colors based on the cave walls. i.e. if the cave walls are dark, choose white, if cave walls are white choose a darker color.

The contrasting colors make the arrows more visible.

The colors really serve no official purpose other than to help you identify your own markers in a heavily dived system. Placing them correctly is of much more impotance than what color they are.

Btw...the only stupid question is the one that is not asked. Dive safe!

(I disagree regarding "stupid questions" -- I know, I've certainly asked a few in my time!)

I was given, and use, florescent orange transparent arrows/cookies -- they glow when a light hits them and are VERY visible!

Peter,

Any idea where I could procure some of those?

Thanks!
Danny

Actually, it was a guy on TDS. I can look up his name when I get back to my own computer.

Ever see anyone mark the arrows with reflective tape?

Many years ago we used outrigger clamps with reflective/SOLAS tape cut to resemble an arrow on them indicating direction of exit.
