hello all,

I'm pretty new to scuba diving but have decided to go take my occupational and surface supply training after getting some more dives in. I have to have my own gear and I'm actually not sure if this is the right forum for this question but meh I'm new right. Anyways I'm really haveing a difficult time deciding on an all round good BC to buy for rec diving and going to school. Any suggestions? I'm just not that sure what to look for any professional advice would be greatly appreciated.

thanks.

that's a big step, going straight to surface supplied diving. I used to do crime scenes and public safety diving back in the day, in Kirby Morgan Superlites, it's very different than recreational diving.

BC's are very much a personal preference thing but I would encourage you to buy a well known brand because you do get what you pay for. I'm a big fan of Zeagle, DUI, Scuba pro, and Oceanic. There is a lot to learn about back inflate vs. vest style, how much lift you need (based on weight/suit type/activity), cold vs. warm water, etc. Joining this forum and searching is a good start.

Your local dive shop would also be a good place to start. You can visit my site, there is a lot of great deals on there for someone just starting out in scuba: Scuba and Snorkel gear

thank you very much and yes i went to the local diveshop as you recommended and got a backplate and wing design which was suggested by people doing what i hope to do.
