I have an new Mares BC. I cant remember the exact modle but its about 2yrs old. Anyway I bought a Zeagle OCTO+ Octopus/Inflater to install on my my Mares BCD. In order to remove the old Ergo Inflater that came with my Mares I had to cut the cord that went to the release valve at the top of the Corrugated Hose. I was then able to remove the old inflater and install the Zeagle OCTO +. It seems to work but it dosen't Purge the air out of the BC like the Original Valve did. In fact it seems Like I will have to sqeeze the BC a Little for it to Vent. Is this how a properly installed octo/Inflater should work or was there some way to attach the cord connecting to the valve to my new Octo? Any Info would be greatly appreciated.

On a Zeagle BC, the "cord" is a fine stainless steel cable with a loop at both ends. On the end where your octo+ attaches to the corrugated hose, the loop is fastened around a stainless steel roll pin that goes across the opening of the octo+ where it attaches to the hose. Kind of hard to describe. Additionally, the cable has to be just the right length to work with your corrugated hose length. If you have cut that cord, whatever the material is in your BC, you might have to farm it out to your LDS to have a cable installed properly. When everything is the right length, your pull dump should work very well, regardless of what is installed at the end of the corrugated hose.

The Mares normally have a piece of black cave line type connector instead of the stainless steel that most everyone else uses. You have to cut this very close to the old inflator end, and tie a knot to get around the pin for the zeagle. Also the Mares hoses are typically a smaller diameter, so if you've stretched it over the new inflator, keep an eye on it and make sure it does not want to tear where it is stretched over that larger tube.
