I am considering going sidemount and researching my options...Has anyone dove the Bogaerts razor harness? If so, what bladder can I use with it? Do you like it? Why?

I dive Steve's razor harness for cave dives in Mexico. Incredibly impressed with the harness, very well thought out.

I wrote my first impressions of the razor harness on my site, and they have remained consistent throughout. The freedom is liberating.

As for inflation, I use drysuit for Mexico. In cold water, I add a 3L CamelBak to support steel tanks.

I wrote a more detailed article on the Bogaerthian side mount configuration, but it needs some edits and revision.

How much lift can I get out of one of those pacs? Would I be able to integrate a different bladder on it? Is it doable for a multi-stage ocean deco dive?

1L ~= 2#s of lift. So my CamelBak is around 6#s of lift.

The Razor harness has been used with a variety of bladders and BCs, including jacket BCs. A lot of us use a CamelBak or a MSR Dromedary Bag as these are streamlined and provide lift where the tanks are located. I know one person who uses a modified DSS Scooter wing/Monkey wing.

I have not taken the Razor on a multi-stage ocean dive, but I don't see why it can't support it. It's selecting the appropriate BC that'll be the issue.

Definitely ping Steve, if you haven't already.
