Hi!

Just figured I'd open a thread to see if anyone else here is going to the DUI Dog Days at Rawlings this weekend (10/18-19 2008)?

We're planning at this point to do Saturday and Sunday. Not sure yet if we're going to get a room somewhere or camp it.

I thought about it, both DUI & DAN is offering reduced entry fees for members, but I am trying to go off-shore of Va. Beach for some real diving exploits.
Plus I've been to Rawlings 3 times this year. More than my limit allows.
It will be very crowded though.

Guesses on More or Less crowded that the DAN fundraiser day? (My only point of comparison...)

Never been to the fundraiser day, but my guess would be more crowded than that.
When I went they ran out of drysuits to try & you had to wait for a return in your size.
They show up with a truck load of them.
It is a great event if you are contemplating a drysuit purchase. This is what I did before buying mine.

That's exactly why we're going -- to see if we like going dry or not, and if so, what kind of suit.

I will be there on Saturday with one new diver (was a student). Look for guy with Red mask, Halcyon Backplate/Wings, a ragged Henderson Hyperstretch Wetsuit! w/Brown Tarp!

Look me up!

I have been there once before on DUI DOG Day. It will be crowed but this is a GREAT event and not many places where you can Test Dive anything they (DUI) make for next to FREE (pay regular admission fee to Quarry + $10 I think?) and that includes a HOT lunch!

Awesome -- sounds good! Hyperstretch for me too :) but a Deep Outdoor BP/W. Hoping we can stake out a decent place as well to throw our tarp.

I'll be there--gonna make my first drysuit dive and then I'm gonna be one of the dive professionals escorting divers as they test the suits. I'll be in my wetsuit then. See y'all there.

Love the Hyperstretch, but mine is wearing out. Velcro tears em up. I bought an older drysuit and dove it at Rawlings and it was neat. I've since sold it (it was a Viking Sport, older vulcanized rubber). When I get another drysuit it will definitely be something front entry, tri-laminate like what DUI sells. And a neck seal not full hood.

This event will be perfect for you.
We had a fun time & the instructor who took us for our dives even signed our log books to make these dives the required dives for our Drysuit class or as we used them for 1 of the option dives in our AOW class.
After diving dry, you will be hard pressed to dive wet in colder conditions, not just water temps, but air temps during SI.
I have dove my Semi-Dry in 42 degree water & even did a 2nd dive before, without much complaining. Now if it is below 60 it is drysuit or no diving.
My wife ended up with a TLS-350 & I wanted a CL-450, but upon ordering I found by the time I got the 450 the way I wanted the CF-200 was the same price & came with most options I was looking for on the 450.
We are both very happy, I just should have had a p-valve installed. Now that I am doing longer Deco obligation dives.
