Cant find it! Everytime I scroll all the way over in the file size menu it warps back to L. How do I find RAW?

You can not save RAW using auto modes. Is that the issue? Otherwise, please share what settings you are using.

I admit the book can be challenging, but all this is documented. the other challenge is shooting raw and jpeg at the same time. You need to set 2 settings.

Hope this helps

Promo--Press Func/Set (Not MENU) , menu appears on left side. Scroll down to RAW using control wheel. Use right rocker button (Flash) to move over to RAW, press Func/Set again. You are now saving RAW files (which works for Prgm, auto shutter or aperture and Manual but NOT Auto mode as Divenutny noted). If you want to also save a JPEG file then yes, it's a seperate setting. Use the MENU selection, scroll to Record RAW + L and select On.

Do check the Users Manual, the camera does lots of cool stuff, not all of which is easy to figure out w/out trying things while having the manual open. Not everything works in every Mode either so sometimes you may be trying to do something that won't work in a particuliar setting but there is a big list for what works in what Mode etc in the back of the book. Pursue the RAW setting, one of the best reasons to shoot this camera! // ww

Especially under water, as youll have lots more data to work with, giving you better results in the end..

Got it, was in SCENE MODE And something else, in another posting reagrding saving custom settings one of the suggested Op's suggesting using 'cloudy' as a white balance in NON STROBE U/W settings. I'm curious why not put the WB in U/W mode? I'll be playing in the pool all weekend!!

I dont use either.. I use AWB and fix it in Lightroom afterwards :p

I think that will work fine. My guess is that the "cloudy" settings is a more common setting on cameras than the U/W setting hence can be used independent of camera. The reason to bother is that every now and again on some pictures the jpeg is as good or nearly as good as you are going to get after tweaking with RAW, so why not save some time and use it.
Have fun in the pool.
