My team is currently demoing a rapid diver setup and I'm seeking input on how other teams use these. Currently our members have received initial public safety diver through either LGS or DRI. We train and dive with the standard: diver, back up, 90%. Diver is tethered, drysuit, mask etc etc. My questions are for anyone using something like this are:
1. How your team implements it.
2. Do you have a sop for it.
3. What additional training do your diver complete.
4. How rigid is your agency in regards to having a backup and 90% diver while in initial rescue mode?
My questions are specifically for rescue mode diving and not recovery diving. For context we are a fire/ems agency that cross staffs pieces out of one station where our dive truck is located. It's not uncommon to have only one or two divers on duty, off duty divers are toned out for an op and can go direct to scene. Rescue mode dives we have conducted in the past few years include fresh water beach area, salt water beach area, marina. All shore based, under 25' with no or little current.
