So do you just hang out at the dive shop / grab a bite to eat between dives?

Top Dive's shop is very sparse, but yes they come back to the shop between each dive. There's fresh water, but if you need snacks you should bring them with you. We hung out and chatted and sometimes went in for a swim. Dives can be deep and a pretty square profile so you want a decent si! Watch that deco!

Like Debersole I stayed at Kia Ora and dove with Top Dive which were a 5 min walk down the beach. Also definitely recommend both but Kia Ora is not for the budget minded (it was our honeymoon so we splashed out)!

I chose Top Dive simply because their 10 dive rate was cheaper than the others I checked but they all operate the same boats and as Mike V said it appears it is 6 of one, half dozen the other.

I did 7 dives on Tiputa and one on Avatoru. When the current is right it is absolutely awesome diving and one of the Tiputa dives will live in my memory for a long, long time - sharks, mantas and 'flying' thru the pass. It's the best.

Any of the dive ops will pick up from your hotel and they generally do two morning and 1 afternoon dive.

Have a great time.

I've narrowed it down to Top Dive or 6 Passengers.

6 Passagers has a 10 dive package for 5800 CFP and then a 10% dicount for having your own equipment. They do not do any shark feedings. They offer two dives per day (7:45 am and 1:30 pm). They will not let PADI AO go below 100 feet. From what I've heard it is prime season to see the Hammer Heads but they are deeper.

Top Dive also has a 10 dive package for 5800 CFB but no discount for having you own gear. They do a Shark Feeding at Avatoru to see the Silver Tips. They offer three dives per day 8:00, 10:00, and 2:00. They did not mention anything about limited PADI AO to 100 feet.

I'm just trying to figure out if it is worth paying more for Top Dive (shark feeding/three dives/hammerheads?)

What do you all think?
