I'm planning my first trip to the pacific and I think I've narrowed it down to Raja Ampat or Wakatobi. I'm looking for some help deciding.

I'll be diving (Underwater Photography - Macro and Wide Angle) and my wife will probably just snorkel. See certified but doesn't like going below 50ft.

I'm hoping someone can share their experiences and opinions on the two locations.

Also if anyone feels like other locations in Pacific would be better suited for us please let me know.

Thanks in advance for everyone's help

Looking at same. Shore diving comparison? Also wondering if anyone has done Wakatobi's Pelagian liveaboard?

I'll be doing video and other half photog.

Also, for anyone that's done both how does getting there (travel hassles & time) compare, especially from US?

Thanks for any comments and suggestions

You'd both get more specific Indonesia help on the Indonesia forum.

I have not been to Wakatobi so I can not speak for that area but we have been to Raja Ampjat 2x .( both times on liveaboards) I really can not recall any good places to snorkel in RA. Hope this helps???

Been to both....Go to Raja Ampat, East Timor, Bali, Bangka, Lembeh straits, Buyat Bay first!....my trip report is posted in the Indonesia forum.
