I'm a Fish!
#1 dive buddy (wife) and I went to Rainbow River to check out the drift dive action. WOW! 100 ft viz, 2 hrs. 20 min. drift, 72 F water temp, tons of fish, springs, vents and seeps. We arrived at K.P. Hole park @ 0900 and was met by Capt. Bill who operates the Rainbow River water taxi. He transported us up river to just short of the headwaters and dropped us off. Water flow was about 1.5 - 2 mph (guessing) as we drifted over shallow grass beds where we switched to snorkel to conserve air. Then we drifted down into sand channels loaded with fish, discovering seeps all along the way while taking time to take pictures of fish, explore a small cavern and check out the larger vent springs. We finished the dive and drifted downriver the last 200 yards back to the starting point at K. P. Hole park. The cost for all of this? $3/per park fee and $15/per transportation on the water taxi. Average water depth was about 10 ft, max depth 22 ft.
