i too also have the atomic SS1, the idea of one less hose is nice,
one thing i did notice is that when i use the SS1 or even possibly an air2 for that matter, it is harder to turn your head left, as when it is in your mouth, the hose is not as flexible and is somewhat stiff. and of course you are limited in movement compared to your primary regulator.
if you get an opportunity to rent or one or know someone who has one that you can use, try it out before you buy it, and if you like it go for it.
just get what you like best and works best for you, as this will be your personalized setup.
