Hi

I'm hoping someone can recommand me a hotel where I can get a good night sleep in Playa del Carmen before heading over to Cozumel.
My plane lands at 11 pm in Cancun, so the plan is to take a private shuttle to PDC, get some rest and then catch a ferry the next day.

So basically what I need is a place that is :
- convenient to access the ferry dock (either on foot or by cab)
- quiet (I'll be dead tired)
- smoker friendly (a balcony would be nice)
- not too expensive (hopefully less than USD 70, but I can do 100)
- has 24 hour check-in or can accomodate my late arrival upon notice

I don't need a pool or AC but hot water would be appreciated.

I've checked tripadvisor, expedia and guide books, but have a hard time making a choice. Maybe one of you has been in this situation before and can help me pick a place. Thanks in advance.

Hotel Riviera Caribe Maya Playa del Carmen Mexico Hotel with Beautiful Air Conditioned Hotel Rooms and Suites nice, safe, clean, desk is manned 24/7 and about 3/4 mile from the ferry (call it a $5 taxi ride).

I am assuming that you are flying into Cancun and going to Coz. This is where we stay in Playa. The standard rooms have all the charm of a Motel 6, just a great place to stay in Playa without spending too much and still be very close to 5th Ave. BTW, they have a pool, AC, balconies, and if you are arriving late there are plenty of places open within walking distance.

Booked a room at the Riviera Caribe. Thank you for the recommendation.

Ask for a ground floor room, no elevators at RCM, and have the desk call you a cab in the morning. If the cab wants more than $50p for a transfer to the dock, flag one down on 10th (right in front of RCM) or walk down to the cab stand at Constituyentes and 5th to get one. A cab ride from RCM to the dock is Zone 1 and should be around 30p. Don't expect to pay that, $50p is about right and don't leave a tip. Set a rate for the fare before you take the ride.
