Quick question on dive rite gear

I have a alum back plate, can I hook up a Dive Rite (TransPac harness Only) to it? Or do I need the Dive Rite Transplate harness? Thanks.....

I have a TransPlate. DR says that the Transpac is not designed for a BP like OMS. That is the reason for the TransPlate. LeisurePro had an excellent price on the Transpac.

The harnesses are the same. They are telling you in the warning that sandwiching a metal back plate in with the soft trans plate back is wrong. They are not telling you that you can't take the harness off a trans pac and use just the harness on a back plate. They are the same my dive buddy originally bought a trans pac and switched his harness to a plate that he now dives.

So you are saying that the harness (strapping, shoulder pads, waist belt and padding) are the same?

They look a little different. I was also thinking on purchasing the TransPac since it was so cheap from LeisurePro. I was thinking that the hip portion of the belts looked different? For hiking cliffs along the California coast to get to the water, I was looking for the most comfortable Rig. Maybe I can just buy the hip padding so the weight rides on my hips when hiking rather than my shoulders.

Do you think that ST $365 will match LP $169 on the new model TransPac?

I'll give them a call tomorrow. With the free shipping and maybe also 10% it could be a killer deal.

ST was unable to price match on a Blue 2XL TransPac. ST only has black and would have to special order. ST claimed it may not be the new 2008 T3000 model. I called LP and asked why less than ST and to confirm it is the new 2008 T3000. LP said it is because of volume buying. So I bought the 2008 T3000 from LP.

There was a complaint thread about LP on ST forum. I posted my positve experience with LP on this thread. And that the ST price guarantee did not apply. Some ST forum members responded with different views and I responded that 1 out of 10 people complains about a business (LP). The other nine who do not have a problem are not normally heard from. I am the other nine telling of my positive experiences with the business.
