I bought this no name brand mp3 player that also takes video. The format it records in is AVI video. What can I use to view it?

Windows Media Player

Using the WMP I get the audio, but not the video

Try Quicktime, or if you have the Nero CD Burning stuff, there's a media player included that might work.

But I agree with alcina, it should work with Windows Media Player. That's the default application for .AVI files in Windows. And as I recall, .avi is a Windows original format.

I'll email it if someone is willing to look
PM sent.

I sent it. With alcina's help I found that I was missing a plug in for it. So I down loaded it and I now get an error message - that the plug in is causing trouble. I have to go to a 3rd party program to open it - it crashes my windows explorer

You need the Divx plug-in/codec. It plays the clip correctly in both Windows Media Player or the standalone Divx player. DivX Video Player - DivX Video Codec - DivX Converter - it's free. Either choice should be a right-click option once installed. On my XP system by default the clip loads in WMP with the Divx codec also loaded.

Thank you, thank you , thank you! now can I covert it to an mpeg?

Yes you can - a couple of options. I use Super @ - it's free but not the easiest to use, the options can be overwhelming.

Or

Free iOrgSoft MPEG Converter Download - puts a menu around the conversion process. Costs $20 to remove their watermark from your video. But it does work - I just tried it on your clip.

You can also google Divx to Mpeg converter for other options. Or Avi to Mpeg converter - most of them will likely work also.
