Doing a one day stopover at Grand Cayman on a Disney Cruise, and am looking for a dive operator that will work well with cruise ship pax that have to deal with tender operations. Originally signed on with the ship's dive excursion since GC is a tender operation, and it is impossible to guarantee exactly when you can get off the ship unless you on a ship excursion. The problem is that you have to cancel the ship's excursion 3 days prior to departure, which is 7 days prior to arrival at GC, or you pay for the dive even if you get sick and can't dive. I could live with 24-48 hours cancellation policy, but 7 days is problematic. Sure would appreciate any recommendations for boat dives catering to cruise divers. Also, had knee replacement in September so shore dives are not an option right now. Thanks in advance.

The time frame for cruise ships on GC makes it hard to schedule boat diving. There is some good shore diving available with ladder entry and really no walking if that would help. You have Eden Rock just slightly south of the terminal ,the reef is beat up but it is still a good dive .Also you have Turtle Reef at Cracked Conch restuarant in West Bay which is a cab ride to and from, they have a nice ladder entry and a very nice mini reef going to about 60'.You could try to call around at some dive ops and see if they are willing.

I know what I said is not much help.

It is even more problematic with the dive ops because the ship operates out of Galveston (CST) and GC is on EST, so if we get in at 7:30 ship's time it is actually 8:30 in GC and most of the morning dives have departed before then. I may just have to stay with ship's op and hope I don't catch a cold. Thanks for the info.

There are plenty of smaller operators that would take you out and have a 24 hr cancellation policy. Just email a few. When are you here?

Thank you for all of the inputs. I will try to check with some of the ops suggested above.

Your other option is to book with Don Fosters they are the ones who provide scuba diving for the cruise ships.By booking with them if there are other cruise ship passengers on board and there is a problem the ships will wait for them .It may be cheaper to book directly .
