Hey everyone I am new to the boards so hopefully I am posting this in the right place but I just have a quick question about an upcoming dive trip to Grand Cayman (our first trip there). Basically, I am curious what the frequency of shark sightings are on the East End of the island. I have asked a few friends and have gotten mixed responses on this with a few people telling me they see reef sharks there consistentently and others have never seen any, so I guess I am looking for a general consensus to put an end to the debate. I appreciate any help at all you can give me. Thanks!

As a dive instructor for one of the dive ops in East End, I would estimate I see a shark about 33% of my dives at a dive site called The Maze. This is in a area which, years ago, shark feeding dives were conducted. At other sites I would put the frequency at less than 1% of my dives.

Mostly its Caribbean reef sharks at The Maze. Other sites it is usually a nurse shark. Very rarely its a blacktip or hammerhead. However the first shark I ever saw in Cayman waters, at The Maze, was a bull shark. Never seen one since.
