Use a fiber optic connection that is triggered by the internal flash.

which housing are you using and how do you mount it?
For now I'm using the OEM housing. My strobe is an Inon D-2000, so the fiber optic cable screws on to the sensor at the bottom of the strobe. It attaches to the housing by way of a velcro patch with a small circular opening in it. You stick the patch where the opening will pick up light from the internal flash.
