I've never had an extended outage per RubberDucky's report. It was raining a lot in June, maybe it was a rain-related problem similar to the one we had. Or it may have been a private building problem vs. public utility problem, which may take longer to deal with. Or maybe Telmex was owed money! And yes, Prodigy & Infinitum are Telmex brands.
Doubtful that anyone was owed money, as it would come up every day, albeit very briefly (several minutes). Support had been out a few times, and it is to my understanding that we were not the only ones affected. That and the owners of the villa we stayed at also wanted to use their Internet. I don't know what the issue was unfortunately. 3+ weeks is just too long to fix something in my opinion. So while we're relating experiences and opinions for the original poster, my advice would also to be to go with Cablemas which survived the nasty June weather according to a friend on the island who offered to let us use hers.
