I've only moved to FL about a year ago, so I'm trying to get some of my "things to do before I die" list updated! With this in mind:

Has anyone gone scalloping along the shores of the Crystal River and Homosassa in Citrus County, FL. First off, is it worth it?

If it is then:

It appears that you need a boat to get to the best locations am I right? or can you just go off the shore somewhere?

I’ve read that it’s 5 to 9 foot deep so it’s for snorkeling any reason to don SCUBA for a deeper dive that the snorkelers can’t reach?

There is a B&B there, Blue Moon B&B, that has a package (during the week) of 2 nights, boat, breakfast for $375.00 seems like a good price. Is this worth it?

I hate doing the “touristy” thing. This seems to be one of them. But, if there is anyway to convert it into something that is actually fun to do, then please let me know. Thanks in advance.
