What does 17 minutes 4.4 seconds mean to anyone?

The world record for breath holding.

He did it on Oprah! His heart never slowed to where he wanted it to! He saturated his lungs with 02 for 23 plus minutes! Held perfectly still one foot underwater until the end then raised close to the surface! His heart rate was in the hundreds for most of the time and I never saw it go to 50?

Knowing that he's a "magician" does anyone think that he used any trickery to do this?

I saw him breathing the O2 while I was at the gym this afternoon...but didn't see him do his breath hold thing...

He (or someone like him) did some kind of trick at the aquarium I volunteer at. The divers that were working that day had to sign non disclosure agreements and then weren't even allowed in the area.

I doubt he really held his breath for that long. 6 minutes, 7 I could see, no way he is going 17. Like all magicians, very cool, but just a trick.

Wonder what it would take for the rest of us to slow our heart rates down even half that (20 beats/minute? Insane.).

Miguel Indurain, multiple Tour de France winner (second only to Armstrong) holds the record for normal resting pulse at 28. Cruising on level ground at 25 mph, he hits 50. Doctors say he has some kind of mutant hemoglobin.
