I have a ranger bc but would like to switch to a bpw, I was wondering if anyone uses a bpw with a back zip drysuit? I was not sure if the back plate would damage the zipper or does it sit lower on your back?

I have a BP/W with a rear zip drysuit, and so far, no problems. Of course, there is a small piece of fabric protecting the zipper...

no, i don't know of any problems

i know several people who dive back zips, and it's never been an issue

Same here. I work on a boat and know many many people with back-zip suits who dive with BP/W and no problems at all.

I use a BP/W with a back zip drysuit - single tank and doubles - and it does not damage the zipper. I have been diving the suit and plate for 6 years without issues. You ask an interesting question about position, that I can't answer. Next time I am in the water, I will pay attention to the relative position of the zipper and the plate on land.

Sorry, brain fade ...

The back zipper on a drysuit can be covered with fabric to protect it from the plate rubbing across the teeth. I was going to do that on mine, but there doesn't seem to be any marring or paint transfer from the plate to the zipper so I haven't felt any rush to do so.

My LDS said it would be $100 to get the fabric added (also wanted another pocket), but I don't want to be drysuit less for 10 days so I have been holding off.
