Have you tried using NiMH batteries in this light, or just rechargeables? Need to know before buying one as a gift. My Shockwave I takes NiMH, but this light has a new bulb.

I've not put NiMH in it yet, but I've run it with rechargeable alkalines....'

What voltage are those rechargeable alkalines?

Same as regular ones... 1.5 Volt.

The shockwave II has two intensity settings in the bulb, but I think it has a lower brightness setting, and it's not that the bright is any brighter than the shockwave.
