We used to fill up 30.06 shells with match heads, tamping them down, leaving one sticking halfway out, then crimping the ends tightly. When you light the match head sticking out, it's like a rocket. At night, you could hear the shells falling about 2 blocks away. That was my favorite, because we made them ourselves. (You should have seen the little .20 cal rockets we shot at each other. You could only fit about 6 match heads in there.)
